Q. I would be grateful if you could inform me of any time limit/limitation period for bringing a debt recovery action in Spain and in Gibraltar.

Paul Stephenson

    A. Any claim which has no special time limit (recovery of debt, for example) can be brought within a 15 year period from the date of the accrual of the cause of action. With regards to Gibraltar, I am not totally sure, but after reading through the UK Limitations Act of 1.980, the time limit for ordinary debt recovery appears to be of 6 years.
